Instead of buying more “stuff” for birthdays or thank-yous, why not gift something green and growing? Over the years, I’ve given away 50+ houseplants — all babies from my own collection. Even people who kill houseplants secretly love receiving them (and giving it another go).

I keep a stash of small pots and soil ready to go, so when one of my plants produces a baby, it’s an easy, thoughtful gift — whether it’s for a birthday, a dinner invite, or just because someone needs a little love. It’s personal, low-cost, and way better than adding to someone’s “what do I do with this?” pile.

Because let’s be honest — no one ever rolled their eyes at a plant baby.
