Get Local – Spend Where It Matters Most
This change is all about looking at where your money goes — and choosing to keep more of it in your local community. I switched from national chains to a local optician and dentist, knowing that more of what I spent would stay in the area, support local services, and contribute to the place I live.

It’s not perfect — national chains do employ local people too — but for me, this was about going a notch deeper. It has cost a little more, and that’s a privilege I know not everyone has. Sometimes I went less often, or cutting back in other areas to create space for more intentional spending.

This change isn’t about guilt — it’s about power. And if you’ve got the option, choosing local is a great way to reinvest in the community around you.
